Nicknamed 'the Cruise ship in the Andes', Portillo is owned and operated by dear friends of Aracari. It should be on every ski lover's checklist as the experience it offers is so unique. There is no ski town as such, just the iconic bright yellow Hotel Portillo tucked in the very heart of the Andes on the shores of the stunning Inca Lagoon just down the road from the Argentine border.
Skiers from all four corners of the globe descend upon Portillo on Saturdays and depart together as friends the following Saturday, taking memories that last a lifetime. For those coming from the Northern hemisphere, it can seem to be a bit of a pilgrimage to sacrifice a week of summer to ski in Chile - but the growing number of devotees can attest that a ski week in Portillo is just about the coolest thing you can do over the summer.
